    Small town or not, it's not always easy to find a place that will cater to a group of women, all of whom have diverse tastes, many with food allergies, and of course all of whom want their bills split. Well, if you're in Berkeley Springs for a girls' weekend, then Tari's might just be the place for you and your gal pals. With a party of 8, we were keen to have a reservation for a late weekend lunch, and we really lucked out with Whitney as our waitress. Not only was she upbeat and pleasant, she was also really great about perfectly executing all of our orders, bringing out food in the correct cadence, and best of all, coming around to each one of us at the table with the restaurant's iPad and Square reader to run each of our credit cards directly and separately! Location is very convenient to all downtown attractions, and parking is easy - the adorable and old-fashioned parking meters will give you one hour for only one quarter! The atmosphere is spacious and lends itself well to both larger parties as well as smaller tables. At lunch time, acoustics seemed well-controlled, although I can imagine it could be a little loud with a full house to due to the open space and myriad wood/hard surfaces. I just cannot get over the reasonable prices of WV (please, don't change!). Cocktails ranged in price from $8 to $10, and were HUGE and actually contained alcohol. What a concept! I thoroughly enjoyed my CocoRita, with its salty-sweet coconut/salted rim, tasty tequila, coconut infused flavors, and its ability to last throughout most of my lunch. For starters, I ordered the Tomato Mozzarella Bisque, and while it wasn't a super-pretty presentation, the flavors were right-on and the "poached" mozzarella in the soup, along with the shredded arugula, made for a tasty way to start my meal. For my main, I enjoyed one of the salads; this one was comprised of a freshly-sliced apple, along with spiced pecans, local goat cheese, all served atop mixed leafy greens and accompanied by a (surprisingly) good house-made raspberry vinaigrette. My gluten-free Celiac friend appreciated that she was able to get the "Special" sandwich of the day, a salmon BLT, without the bread, and the assurance that the salmon wasn't crusted, all while served with a side salad and extra veggies, for no up-charge. The balance of the table really loved the grown-up grilled cheese, along with the crab soup. The French fries were also a hit, as they were like the extra-crispy Ore-Ida fries many of us recall from childhood. And, of course, the food was reasonably-priced as well. $25 for a cocktail, soup, and entree salad? Get outta town!

    Stylish decor, prompt service and interesting dishes. I ordered the charbroiled chicken sandwhich which was pretty good, i wasn't a big fan of the kettle chips. You may want to avoid this place if you're an extremely picky eater.

    Very limited dinner menu. My friend seemed to enjoy her meal, but I decided not to order what I actually wanted - a hamburger - because there was no option to get it without a pint of beer. Unless you want to pay $17 for a burger, with or without a beer. Hahaha - nope. Not sure why everyone raves so much about this place, have to put it down to the lack of real dining options around town.

    Tari's is still the best game in town but I have to knock it down a star because the menu does not change regularly like it used to and the prices have ticked up a little more. Still under Lot 12 prices but too much for what it is.

    Service was great (thanks Justin!) Food was pretty good (maybe pass on the fish and chips but definitely get the French Dip sandwich!!!). And the local art on walls gives it the perfect "local" ambiance. Crab cake sandwich was not bad, but I loved my tomato arugula bisque! Desserts are sweet but good. I liked the peanut butter chocolate pie :) Usually don't like super sweet, but I was able to enjoy it.

    We were out on our motorcycle and wanted a relaxing lunch. Stopped and was very pleased. My wife had a glass of Riesling and we shared the pimento cheese dip, yum. It and the meal were served with kettle chips that were fantastic. I had the lunch box which was a trip back in time to when I was a kid. A really good, simple sandwich. My wife had the pig dipper which was excellent as well. We will definitely be back.

    What a cute little place! The staff is friendly and efficient, the draft beer selection is small but really good with regional options. The food was, for the most part, tasty as well. Our hummus app was absolutely delicious - some of the best we've had anywhere. The Mahi tacos I ordered were less than amazing...somewhat disappointing since everything else was so well flavored and prepared. Still would choose Tari's anytime we're passing through Berkley Springs!

    Celebrated our 25th anniversary here with fresh salads, warm fresh-baked bread, an ever-so-slightly-overcooked filet mignon, the best salmon my wife ever tasted, and a very tasty cheesecake. The waitstaff was very personable, welcoming, and responsive.

    Four of us at 4:30. They presented us with both the lunch and the dinner menu; saying that we were there at the "in between" time, and we could order off of either menu. Very nice of them. Synopsis is that the burger, the grinder and the falafel sandwich rec'd rave reviews. The BBQ pork was too spicy for our friend. Kettle chips come with 95% of the meals on the menu. I asked the waitress what they had that can be substituted. She named off a few starchy items. When I told her that I was looking for something "green" she said they have spinach. Two of us had the spinach and it was delicious! Service was excellent. We've dined there a few times before and we'll be back.

    (Based on 3 visits there...) So I understand this is a small town with limited eating options, but if you're going to charge people a lot, better make sure it's worth it! This place is over-rated or the people rating it so high have not eaten anywhere else! I went there each time ordering something different hoping it will be good, but I was disappointed each time:( The food had poorly mixed spices. The Jambalaya was not good at all. My NY strip steak (ordered medium cooked, on 2 different occasions) was dry and chewy. The fish had no taste and was oily. The atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly though - so 1 star for that.

    Four stars because it is the best game in town and the Maryland Crab Bisque is to die for. The freshly made iced tea is always a good bet when it's warm out. The salads are tasty and nicely presented. My wife and I have only eaten lunch here as it is the midway point between where we live in Virginia and her childhood home in Western PA.

    Wonderful meal in Berkeley Springs, walking distance from the springs. Upscale atmosphere but child-friendly = winner. Portions are ample, LOVED the local smoked mushrooms. Excellent service, very attentive and friendly. Thanks for making us feel welcomed guests.

    You definitely get the feeling local inns get kickbacks for recommending Tari's, although they are one of the few games in town. Pros - innovative, healthy, delicious dishes. We ordered soups and apps. I had the tomato basil bisque and the flatbread; my boyfriend tried the hummus and chili. Both dishes were presented well and full of flavor. Cons - be prepared for a significant uptick in price between weeknights and weekends. I believe weeknights are $12 for a meal. On weekends, soups are $5-6, apps are $10-18, entrees are $20+. They are definitely adapting to visitors wallets... Also, the outside looks completely dated, with a logo from the 80s that doesn't really match their look on the inside.

    We wanted some healthy snacks after our soak at the Roman bath house before our big new year eve dinner somewhere else. We were pleasantly surprised that they still served regular lunch and Dinner menus!!! We ordered a rustic salad and a falafel with curried hummus. They were both very delicious. All the ingredients were put on point and there were so many flavors in these simple dish. I would call it new delicate American with slight fusion. We sat at the bar side of the restaurant. The decor was modern and warm! There were beautiful modern artworks displayed. The service was perfect and we would highly recommend.

    My husband and I ate at Tari's recently and found it to be one of the best places we've eaten at in quite a while. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, concerned, and efficient. Other staff members lent a hand if they saw an empty plate on the table. I had the crab cakes and my husband had the Pasta Chesapeake. Both were generously portioned and very tasty. I don't think I've even seen such large lumps of crab. The ambiance was good.....quiet and well-lit without being too bright. While it was a pricy meal, it was well worth it and we'll definitely be back.

    We've enjoyed Teri's food, service, ambiance and accommodations for many years. The "sleep and dine for $199" is our favorite and a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary or just a week-end getaway. The price includes 2 nights in one of the rooms above the restaurant and 4 meals. (2 lunches and 2 dinners). The rooms are one flight up and, in Teri's words, "ain't the Ritz" but are comfortable and have a quaintness that we enjoy. The front room has a nice view but traffic noise is a consideration. The 2 back rooms are off the street and much quieter. We usually spend the day at Cacapon State Park and are only in the rooms at night so they suit us just fine. The dining room is the real draw. In the 10 plus years we've been coming here we have never been disappointed. The dishes are fresh and cooked to perfection. We are not big meat eaters and rarely (no pun intended) order steak but the filet is hard to pass up, charred and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The seafood, pasta, vegetarian dishes are salads excellent, especially the salmon salad. The chef has a delicate way with herbs and spices, tomato bisque is a good example. The menu does not change as much as it had but you get the feeling that each meal is cooked just for you. Tari's is a family operation and the owner's daughter is one of the servers, she will be glad to give you a little history if they're not too busy.

    Great food, nice atmosphere. Stopped on the way home from DC. A little off the highway but worth the 5 mile drive. Kids menu had a strip steak. Shrimp and grits were delicious.

    Stopped in for lunch. Sons enjoyed the large burgers and fries and the battered fish/chips. I liked the turkey baguette and house chips. Wife was not fond of the frittata (she thought it was dry), but the accompanying salad was delicious. We were in and out in under an hour.

    My husband and I ate at Tari's last night and it was amazing! I never eat my whole meal and I ate every last bite. Our waiter was fantastic and knowledgable about the food and the neighborhood. I had the swordfish with polenta, asparagus and olive tapenade which was so flavorful. My husband had the pork ribeye with fennel mashed potatoes and apples, the pork was so tender and delicious. When it was time for dessert we were both stuffed! But they brought out the tray and we couldn't say no. I had the amazing creme brûlée and my husband had the chocolate peanut butter pie! Definitely will be back!

    Stopped here for lunch while playing tourist with my wife. They were very full, but quickly got us at a table in the bar area (they gave us the option, we took it), which I appreciated. Given the crowd, the staff was hustling to attend to customers. Their "Almost" Famous Crab Soup we both had we would say lives up to it's name - in the sense that while it is good, we would certainly stop short of stating it was great. Had salads for lunch, I had the Smoke House salad and my wife had the Rustic Harvest salad. We were both very happy with the portions. My Smoke House had plenty of meat! Yay meat! I did note Taris seems to want to give a fresh twist of some kind to menu items, so I did appreciate the combinations of flavors. I really would not mind coming back to try a few more. And the expense was really very reasonable, this is a good value for the $$ spent. The salads which were plenty filling and tasted nice were $10 or less. While we did not avail ourselves of more than a glass each of some house wine (A Malbec & an effing Merlot), it seemed like their bar selections included plenty of choices. Our waiter was also attentive, even if busy, and I did not wait inappropriately at any time. The local artwork did add to the ambiance, and we had some fun checking it out before we left.

    My girlfriend found this restaurant on Yelp while we were in town for a day-trip. As two people who really appreciate good food, we both agreed this place is a gem. We were seated promptly at a table by the window looking out on the street (nice view of town) and our waitress was friendly and helpful, offering us good input on food and drink selections. I enjoyed a local microbrew, and my girlfriend had a jalapeño margarita which was just about the tastiest and spiciest cocktail I've ever had. It's a must try! For an appetizer we had the curry hummus, which was incredibly flavorful and served with warm, soft triangles of pita bread. If I had any complaint about this restaurant it's that we could've used a little more pita bread since we still had hummus left when the bread was gone. Our lunch entrees were fantastic. I had the "griddle pig" which was Carolina BBQ pork served on bread. The sandwich bread was epic- soft and buttery but toasted just perfectly so that each bite was mouthwatering, and the BBQ pork was delicious. My girlfriend had the "Tari's French Dip," and this was delicious as well, with savory rib eye and tasty au jus sauce for dipping. As with my sandwich, the baguette they served it on was incredible, toasty an delicious. The cole slaw and French fry sides our lunches came with were also very good and complimented the main courses well. All in all, this is a fantastic place if you want delicious food, great drinks, and friendly West Virginia service in a clean and comfortable atmosphere for a reasonable price. I'll be coming back on my next visit to Berkeley Springs.

    My wife and I ate in the restaurant and rented one of the rooms upstairs. The rooms are in dire need of updating but were relatively clean and comfortable. But then again, the room rates are very low and we really enjoyed our stay. Everyone here is so friendly. From Rhonda who works the bar, to Russell who waited on us in the restaurant, the service was excellent. My wife had the crab cakes. They were fresh and my wife said they were the best she ever had. For my dinner, Russell recommended the fennel-pepper rubbed pork roast. Wow, it was tender and flavorful. Their salad dressing was a home made raspberry vinegarette. They also had a nice selection of wines. I was not expecting this in WVA. They sometimes run weekend specials that include dinner and lodging and this would make for a nice weekend trip. Be sure to visit the baths too. Berkeley Springs is beautiful in the fall and is only a 4 hour drive away.

    My wife and I ate at Tari's last night and it was phenomenal. We started with the crab fondue, which was delicious and could have easily been an appetizer for four people. I had the Pasta Chesapeake and my wife had the Pecan Crusted Salmon. We loved it all. Our server was fantastic as well; I wish I remembered her name so I could give her a shoutout here. I was born and raised in Berkeley Springs but have spent the last 15 years living elsewhere - Shanghai, China; Dallas, TX; and Memphis, TN, which are all great food cities. Tari's is comparable in price and quality to the same level of dining experience in those other cities.

    This is I think one of the only two restaurants where I left no tip so far in my life, and here's why. We came in past 2:30 for a late lunch; the place wasn't that crowded. Ordered a beer, a salad, and a sandwich altogether. It took over ten minutes for the beer to come. I mean, come on. Just as we thought the waiter probably forgot about it and started banking on him voiding that item off our check, he somehow remembered and belatedly brought the beer. Then it took at least another 40 minutes for the salad and sandwich to arrive. I got the Tari's chop chop salad. It was decent, but in all seriousness does it really take an hour to prepare this and the simple sandwich? At one point we almost stood up and just left. We would've left a few dollars for the beer, but the whole experience was so exasperating that I just wanted to leave. The waiter came over once (approximately 45-50 minutes after we'd placed our order) to say our food would be right out. I suspect he had forgotten to put our order in until then. It took less than 10 minutes after that to get our food; and that would've been the reasonable amount of time to prepare what we got. If it takes over an hour to prepare a simple salad and sandwich when the place isn't even that crowded, how long would it take to get a full table's food during peak hours? Two hours? The menu seemed diverse and fun, and I can see the how the art decor can blend into the culinary design. We would've enjoyed our experience had the waitstaff exhibited more competency.

    For a special occasion, Tari's is one of my favorites. Atmosphere is creative and relaxing at the same time. Service has always been outstanding. Food is delicious, sometimes portions are a little small. A little high priced for me to be a regular. Overall it is a great restaurant with friendly and professional staff.

    I joined Yelp just to write about Tari's restaurant. My SO and I had read about this place and were interested in trying it on a day trip to Berkeley Springs. We pulled up and saw that they had jalapeño margaritas. I'm not a huge margarita fan, but I thought I'd give it a try. It was mind blowing. Seriously. Super spicy, just a little bit salty, and the perfect amount of alcohol. SO good. My SO got a WV brew (they had quite a few local options!) and it was very good as well. We started with a curried hummus. The pita was delicious and perfectly grilled (didn't taste as if it was made in house though) and the hummus was garlicky, minty, and full of flavor. I had the French dip which was very tender, smothered in onions, mushrooms, and horseradish. Fresh bread, perfectly grilled. My only complaint was the frozen French Fries and Heinz tomato ketchup. Very unimpressed. My SO had a barbecue sandwich which he enjoyed thoroughly. The bread was buttery and toasty. A good choice if you like Carolina style barbecue! Service and decor were exceptional. Unexpected creativity in food, drinks, and decor for the state of WV. An excellent choice for any day in Berkeley Springs.

    I reserved at Tari's (for a room, not dinner) several weeks in advance of a Saturday night stay (and after reading a number of reviews, due to concerns about whether, given the price, it would be ok). The short version of what happened (because I'm still very upset) was that I made a reservation by phone, confirmed it with my credit card, got the name of the woman who took the reservation, and discussed with her whether I needed a dinner reservation for the Saturday night we would be there (she said "no"). On the day we were to arrive, I called to tell them we were arriving late -- around 6 pm or so. I was told there was no record of our reservation. I asked to have the owner, Amy, call me back, which she did. Amy told me that she had a system in place that ensured they didn't make mistakes and that the woman with whom I had made the reservation didn't recall our conversation -- therefore, I had never made the reservation. Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed with Amy's response -- at this point, all I really wanted was an "I'm so sorry this happened" and help finding somewhere to stay, as we were on our way to Berkeley Springs. While I was calmly saying to Amy that I was disappointed with her response, she hung up on me. You only have my word for the fact that I was calm, but I was. So, even if Tari's is a nice place to stay, I would suggest you find somewhere else, given Amy's behavior.

    After a morning at the spa, my friends and I decided to stop by Tari's Café for lunch. We were greeted pleasantly by the hostess and shown our table. The atmosphere is understated in dark colors with pops of bright colors from gallery like art hanging around the walls. We didn't get a chance to go into the bar area, but it seemed to be decorated in the same gallery theme. Our server was very friendly, took our drink order and recommended an appetizer. We chose the pimento cheese dip since that isn't something we regularly see at home. It was served hot with homemade kettle fried chips. I ordered a sandwich called the "flying pig", our server recommended it. It was an original that is for sure. Hamburger patty, vinegar based pork BBQ, strips of bacon and a yummy cherry BBQ sauce, served with a side of coleslaw. It was unique and very tasty. We were told by someone at the spa to get the peanut butter pie which sadly they were out of, so we improvised with the key lime pie and oh I am so happy we did. The key lime pie here is to die for; it was light and refreshing and had the perfect amount of sweetness! My one complaint from the experience... I ordered an Arnold Palmer at the tune of $2.99, and half way thru it, another waitress came from behind and filled up my drink with plain iced tea. Granted, I was drinking a tea based beverage but I totally lost the half and half option I was shooting for. I guess I could have said something, but she was just doing her job... but maybe she could have asked what I was drinking first. The reviews on Yelp stated more than once that the staff here had a reputation of turning their noses up at people dressed in lounge street clothes and those that have visible tattoos. I cant speak for others, but my friends and I had just come from the spa... had zero make up on, hair a mess, covered in massage oil, wearing tanks, tees and had plenty of visible tattoos from shoulder to toe, and we never once had the vibe that we were not welcome there. Perhaps the vibes others picked up on came from the dinner staff... but we were right at home.

    Pretty awesome local place. Great food, reasonable prices and good beer selection. Our group stopped in for a late lunch at Tari's and will go there again next time we pass through Berkley Springs. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Good selection of microbrews and local beers on tap and the waiter eagerly offered a sample for my wife who was unsure about a particular beer. The burgers are great! Try the Warren Burger.

    Great food. Great service. Great local art. I came here for lunch with my family on Father's Day, and we couldn't have picked a better place to eat. Our waitress was patient and guided us through the menu. She took the time provide us with feedback about her personal favorites on the menu. Each of us ordered something different on the menu - from the salads to the burgers to the paninis and sandwiches -- EVERY order was superb and reasonably priced to boot. We were so impressed, we even ordered dessert! I will definitely be back. What a treat!

    We had been avoiding this among the restaurants in town because it seemed a bit pricey-- Entrees range from about 18 to 26, I believe. Man, were we lucky we had a terrible experience with Ambraehouse down the street! We came in a little before 8, starving. Took some time staring at the menu before deciding on the falafel appetizer and our entrees. The falafel was great- creamy, well seasoned, crunch on the outside without being greasy. Served with grilled pita, tzatziki, and some really good hummus. My only complaint-not enough pita for the generous amount of hummus, so we asked for some more pita ($1 charge, but whatever). I had the saffron aroncini, which was absolutely delicious-- real saffron flavor game through, and the grilled vegetables, smoked tomato sauce, and cream sauce were all delicious. One friend had the Mahi, which came with crab in a creamy sauce and mashed potatoes. Another friend had an asian chicken salad. We all enjoyed everything we had. Even the bread that comes for the table was lovely! One thing the menu doesn't note: all the entrees come with a starter salad (mostly greens, with some croutons, a slice of cucumber and a grape tomato) dressed lightly in their house herb balsamic vinaigrette. Portions are really generous, and everything tasted fantastic. The service was also great-- friendly servers, just the right level of attention, and it was clear that the staff was working as a team-- when another server walked by and noticed we might need something, they either took care of it themselves or went and got our server to come over as soon as possible. If this place was in DC or Baltimore, or even my hometown of Columbia, they would likely be fully justified charging their entrees in the $30-40 range. We came in probably on the late end for this town, but were by no means the last group--several tables came in after us, the last one we noticed around 9:05. We left around 9:15. In retrospect, we were really glad that Ambraehouse clearly has some trouble communicating with their staff-- if not, we would not have tried this gem!

    Nice - can go from fairly casual to fancy. Lots looked great on the menu. The salmon was really good. The pasta that was supposed to have the "olive melange" was so-so. We'd go back to try something new!

    Visiting and decided to stop for lunch. Service is a little slow even when not busy. Food was ok nothing to rave about and seemed a little pricey for lunch.The place was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. I would not make a special trip here but would try it again if I was in neighborhood.

    Stopped in for a coffee in the bar on a cold snowy day in February. My tiramisu coffee spread warmth throughout my body. The friendly waitress said they would have a Sunday brunch so we came back that day expecting the usual eggs Benedict, etc. Instead they had steak and salmon - not our idea of brunch. They had no breakfast items at all. Definitely go here for lunch and dinner but check the details before you try breakfast or brunch.

    I was not going in with my hopes too high with this restaurant. From being an avid restaurant-goer while living in DC, then the same when moving to Baltimore, I expect things to live up to a certain standard. I was a little worried when they were suggested to us at the spa, I asked 'what kind of food do they serve? Is it only American food?' I received only blank stares as if they couldn't think of other types of food than American. We went with a same day reservation for a party of 7 on a Saturday, and things couldn't have been more perfect! They had tables ready for us and we were in a less busy area in order to really enjoy each others' company. Our server was extremely pleasant and her work and suggestions were phenomenal! The calamari (in WV!!!) was delicious! The flat bread was wonderful! Our wide selections of chosen entrees were all beautifully presented and tasted heavenly! I, with the Pasta Chesapeake, couldn't have been more pleased! And the drinks! Oh the drinks were great! Starting with a Tari's Tini (awesome) then asked for another suggestion only to find out they serve Moscow Mule in the copper mug (which was freaking awesome!) and to top everything off, we had two birthday girls celebrating and we got Pumpkin Spice Irish Coffees with the candles on top to celebrate (and they were awesome as well!). Really, any time I go through the area again, between this restaurant, and quite a few of the quaint wonderful shops, I will definitely be going to Tari's again, and to Berkeley Springs as a whole!

    Came for dinner and lunch with my wife... Food was decent - nothing particularly special .. but not bland either. My wife had the salmon which was good (and i dont like fish) and i had the NY Strip which was tasty. Ordered the fried calamari which had more peppers then squid.. which was a bummer. Dessert was so-so... Priced perhaps a tad more then it should be... still enjoyed it, and looking at the local art on the walls. (Everyone in town raved about their cream of crab soup... we weren't terribly impressed)

    I stopped here with my wife and three little boys for a quick meal on our way to DC. The food was excellent. The service was adequate. The 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill was not appreciated. I asked the waiter about it and he said adding 20% gratuity for parties of 5 or more was their policy. I don't consider a family of 5 to be a "party." That kind of policy is associated with a group of diners, several families or friends, who end up paying separately. Regardless of the food quality we will not be returning. I have no problem tipping well for good service. However I don't appreciate being forced to tip 20%. This place doesn't offer service worthy of a 20% tip. 12%-15% is what I normally tip for good service.

    The food is great as is the atmosphere. I had a blackened chicken salad which came in a reasonably sized portion at a decent price. I also stole some pasta and some fish from my dining companions and those were delicious as well. I also had Creme Brûlée which was super tasty. Tari's is quite nicely decorated and I enjoy that there were pieces from local artists and jewelers. Would definitely recommend!

    Very good food. My son had buttermilk fried chicken tenders served with a generous amount of thick cut french fries. My husband ate the club sandwich which was a big sandwich. I ate a roast beef on ciabatta with caramelized onions which came with a small side salad that had what tasted like a homemade raspberry vinaigrette. It was all delicious. Ambiance was casual. They have art all over the walls and some that you can peruse thru while you wait for your meal. Lots of space for a large family. Staff was very friendly. Service was timely. No complaints.

    Healthy gourmet food, professional service, sophisticated decor. Choose from the casual bar or the more formal dining room. The same menu is available in both places.

    Awful food. We ordered crab soup, which is impossible to swallow, too much salt. The bread is worst ever tasted. The chip is really bad. And the price is way high for the food. Won't recommend.

    We walked in from the rain, and on this particular Sunday night, Tari's was pretty much the only place open in Berkeley Springs. We yelped it, and cool, we didn't have much choice really. I'm SO glad we came. I got the Waterman's Feast, and it truly was a feast. Lump crab cake, broiled scallops, steamed shrimp, green lip mussels, and a snow crab cluster. Oh, and a little plate of fettucini. Everything was great. I eat a lot of seafood and this was a great way to sample a bunch of things that they serve at Tari's. The gentleman that waited on us essentially recommended everything by name. This is usually a sign of a really good place to eat or a REALLY indecisive omnivore. Luckily it seemed to be the former. All the food was fresh and tasty. Friends of mine got the Jambalaya Ya Ya which he said was perfect and he didn't want to get a dessert because he wanted the taste to linger in his mouth a little longer. My girlfriend got the Jail Island Salmon, which was awesome, and another friend got Crab Cakes. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going to stop in here and grab dinner again! And another note....do NOT skip dessert. They change often.

    I absolutely enjoyed this place for lunch. Had a $10 burger that was absolutely amazing. Well done (the only way you can have it in WV from what I've heard) but it was still thick and juicy. The fries were solid, but not great. My lady has the crab cake and salad. Both were good too. Some people complain about the service, but I thought the waitresses were fantastic. Very nice, helpful, and fast. I will come back any time I'm in town and recommend you do the same!

    Best lunch I've had in a very long time!! Such a cute, yet unassuming place that offers quality food and quality service. Our waiter was charming and attentive without being overbearing. I had the gazpacho and salad. Both were superb! We started out with the housemade hummus - oh my, it is the best I've ever had! They add curry powder and almond slivers...so good - you must try this! The wine list looked great as well.

    This seems to be the only place with some life in Berkeley Springs. The atmosphere is calm, cool, and quiet. Our server was kind and offered suggestions. We started with the falafel appetizer, which was really small at $10. It was served with yogurt sauce, hummus, and pita points. That being said, the falafel was the best I've ever had (and I've had falafel at least 20 times, from various middle eastern institutions). It was salty, creamy, and garlicky in the center with a crispy outside that wasn't oily. I think it was battered or breaded, which isn't traditional, but certainly welcome. The entrees came, surprisingly, with a mixed salad and a nice vinaigrette first. I ordered the wild mushroom linguine at the indication of our server. She proudly stated that they smoke their own shiitake, oyster, and cremini in-house. This sounded really impressive, but unfortunately all I got were some button mushrooms. They had nice flavor, but I was expecting more. The pasta was, unfortunately, over-cooked. At least 2 minutes past al dente. The menu seems to rely heavily on linguine, so this was disappointing. I'd likely come back for lunch, just for more falafel, but overall this place is just okay for me. The prices were a bit steep and the food wasn't spectacular overall.

    Stopped into Tari's as a lunch break during a long drive south. We were trying to go for a quick late lunch around 2:30 when we figured the restaurant would be quiet. Not quite. The Arts in the Park event was clearly a big draw and that meant that Tari's was busy too. We waited awhile at the door before the hostess arrived. We were sat quickly despite the crowd which was nice. Our server was nice, but slightly flustered by the crowd. The menu was very diverse which made the decision difficult. I ordered the Fish and Chips with an extra side of the sweet potato tots. The meal took a bit to prepare but when it arrived the food was very good. Crispy fish with a nice tartar sauce. I'm glad I got the extra tots for a couple reasons 1) they were really really good 2) my serving of fries was fairly skimpy. The fries are described as salt and malt vinegar boardwalk fries but certainly weren't seasoned that way. My mother got the fish tacos and really enjoyed them. My aunt got the griddle pig. She liked it but found it to be a bit spicy for her taste. I really liked all of the local artwork that was featured on the walls. Lunch was good and if I ever find myself in Berkeley Springs, it is likely that I would return.

    Definitely a do-over! Was going to go the evening before but decided it was a bit too pricey. Went for lunch (quite affordable) and sat at the bar... Great Happy Waiter :) and enjoyed every bit of food. Had the flatbread for appetizer, falafel burger and mahi taco for entrée... VERY VERY yummy.... After eating lunch I would definitely splurge on dinner here!

    I ate lunch at Tari's Cafe back in early August on my birthday when I drove up to Berkeley Springs to do some antiquing. The woman who seated me (she was also the bartender I believe) was very friendly. My lunch was actually quite good - an excellent "adult" grilled cheese sandwich and tomato/basil soup. I really did enjoy the food. One reason I can't give this restaurant a better rating was that the waitress' service, while starting out ok, went downhill and became downright annoying by the end of the meal. I had asked to see the dessert menu which she never brought, despite the place not being busy at all, so I finally had to ask the bartender to bring it. Considering the quality of the lunch, the "sample" tray of desserts looked boring and uninspired. I wish restaurants would realize that presenting desserts in this way is simply unappetizing. Do they present other menu offerings like this? Of course not. I passed on dessert as nothing looked very good. When the waitress finally brought the "check" it was via an iPad. This was ok in and of itself but what irritated me was that she stood there and waited while I was supposed to choose which percentage to tip her. That frankly struck me as a bit over the top. I understand that some retail establishments are going to this format of check-out. But the waitress also failed to provide me with a ticket showing two things. One, a listing of what I was charged for so that I could see that she hadn't overcharged me. Note to Tari's management: mistakes do happen. And of course, there was no breakout showing me what the food/drink cost exclusive of tax. Another note to Tari's: you should not expect tips to be based on totals including tax. I ended up telling the waitress I would not include the tip on the iPad and that, should I decide to tip, would leave that in cash. I did leave her around 15% - more than she deserved. .

    Great service and good food. Had appetizers and dessert and we were full. Mussels with pesto toast, calamari, and heirloom tomato tarte. The calamari is made with jalapeño so it was spicier than the typical variety.

    I went for lunch and had the Philly Cheese Steak with shoestring fries. The sandwich had shaved ribeye, Gruyere cheese, forest mushrooms, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and sort of a mesclun mix. It also came with garlic mayonnaise, but I hate mayo, so I had them leave it off. I also asked them to saute the tomatoes. The bun was a fairly ordinary club roll, but it was fresh. All of the fillings were nicely cooked and flavorful. It was sort of a "sophisticated" Philly that worked well. The shoestring fries were great -- really thin, crisp, and not at all greasy.

    This is an extremely high end place. If you're looking for a side of distinguished in this dismal area, you should be here. Pros: Food is above my taste but is definitely cooked by someone who knows what they're doing. Service is excellent Clean and well maintained establishment Cons: Price is high but overall I think it fits the establishment so maybe not an outright con Overall this place is definitely for people looking for fine dining in this area. They do have kids food but I would say this is more for a couple looking for a fine dining establishment to spend time together or what not. Prepare to test your taste buds on this one as their food is pushing boundaries. Would probably get 5 stars from me just not my cup of tea.

    One of the best meals we have had and we eat out a lot. Kids meals were as good as ours and not dumbed down for kids. Our food was spectacular, so much so that we had to order dessert. We never order dessert and had NO room. But we had to try it!! Not disappointed. You must try Tari's.

    We stopped in for an early light dinner on a weeknight while on a road trip. My husband had the tomato soup and a side of smoked mushrooms. I had the Harvest Salad (and shared my naan with him). All were delicious. The service was friendly, and the interior is appealing. No regrets.

    I've been going here on my way through town since high school and I still enjoy it. The food is very reasonable and delicious, while some dishes are even adventurous. What makes the experience is the service, which is perfect and formal but not stiff. Every server in here is good at their craft and genuinely knows the menu. It's a very comforting place to eat and enjoy.

    This place is a gem. The food is always at least good--sometimes amazing but never bad. The lunch portions are a good size; I've split a sandwich for lunch and been quite full. soups are always delicious. For dinner I usually also split an entree (we tend to go for a girls' weekend kind of thing so this may not apply to big eaters) and also get an app or two or soup or salad. It's not that the dinner entrees are huge; it's more that they are normal size (which is probably still larger than I would eat at home) and we always want to try a few things. I've had some entrees that have been amazing (I remember a salmon entree standing out) whereas others are good but not awesome. Nothing is particularly light but most likely you're here on vacation. I tend to eat here more than once if I'm in town for the weekend. Partly this is because there aren't a lot of dining options in Berkeley Springs and partly because the servers are always nice and the food is consistently good.

    This restaurant should be better than it really is....being on the main drag of Berkeley Springs and having such a strong reputation....but it's not. While the food is ok, the service has always lacked in my opinion. There have been a couple of occasions where my husband and I stood in the front area waiting to be seated for 15 minutes. After the second time of that happening, we will not go to Tari's at all unless we have visitors and that's the only kind of food they want to eat. Otherwise there are other restaurants I would prefer to give my business to...one that appreciates customers. I rated Tari's 3 starts because of their food only.....the service I would give it a 1 star at best. It pains me to write such a negative review but in these tough times a restaurant needs to work to keep their customers...not drive them away as they have done with me.

    Had the Thai style fish tacos. Even though not authentic Thai, they were pretty tasty. My husband had the California wrap special which was also yummy. Shoestring fries were good. Overall a good lunch stop.

    This is my second review of the wonderful Tari's. From their wonderful service, lovely wine list to their flexibility with children I just adore this restaurant. The service is well-paced and friendly and while I would consider this is a fine dining restaurant it doesn't seem stuffy or overpriced. I always feel happy here. I highly recommend anything with beef as I had the filet tips which were perfectly prepared and to my liking. Mussels are splendid as well.

    Cant beat a place that has "wild women" on sign outside restaurant. Excellent food, great art. First off there is one part of the restaurant that is more of a cafe/bar setting. On the other side of the wall is a classy looking restaurant. My travel buddy and I dined in restaurant. Service is great and we noticed after some time the servers were all women. Coincidence? Or women-operated? I also noticed a lot of female-only diners. It must have been ladies' night or something! E and I split the Spinach, Jalapeno & Fire Roasted Red Bell Pepper Fondue which is actually more like a thick dip. The tortilla chips came out bright orange and reminded me of carrots. It was all good. I wanted to eat the whole thing but tried to save room for the actual meal. E got the Pasta Chesapeake (I stole a bite, yum yum yum! Creamy without feeling thick and heavy.) and I had the Seared Scallops Pesto. I thought the scallops were a tad overcooked and pesto didn't really seem like pesto, but overall, not bad. I left the restaurant waddling, the food was so good I wanted to eat it all. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're staying in Berkeley Springs.

    Attractive ambiance, interesting and varied menu, friendly and efficient service. My smoked mushroom Caesar's salad was light but satisfying, my husband's turkey sandwich (from the specials menu) was delicious, and my daughter's buttermilk chicken fingers (a generous portion from the kids' menu) were fresh and tasty.

    Tari's Cafe offers good food in an Art Gallery setting. The French Onion Soup was delicious with a thick slice of Mozzerella cheese melted on top. The Little Italy panini was warm and spicy. Overall, the food was good but not great; my favorite aspect of Tari's is the atmosphere and art pieces that surround you as you dine.

    Our dinner here was last minute, but the proprietor of our B&B suggested reservations for us. We ate rather early and were seated in a nice table in the front windows. I had the scallop appetizer with my husband. We each scarffed down 2 savory scallops then had the crab bisque. The soup was good and was served in a snarky looking modern bowl that wasn't tiny, but a good portion. I also had the salmon and not only did it look JUST LIKE the photos of it I've seen, but I was pretty good. Nice balance of the pecan crust and perfectly cooked salmon. I also had two 'mason jars' of the apple cider and was so bloated with liquid that I couldn't even think about dessert. That, however, did not stop me from requesting a view of the dessert tray. Mostly big slabs of cakes and choco peanut butter pie..although I think they change their desserts day to day. Restrooms are located in the back and were clean.

    We were driving home to NC and Yelp led us here. A great find for travelers who don't want fast food. I had the Steel City steak salad and it was delicious. Perfectly portioned and the steak was cooked perfectly. Definitely stop by when you're in town.

    The wife and I took a weekend getaway to Berkeley Springs and had dinner at Tari's Friday night. We were really pleased with both the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. Combined we had salads, steak, crab, and ribs, creme brulee, and a reasonably priced bottle of wine. Everything was very good. I'm not saying that everything was the best I ever had, but I will say that each dish brought nice flavor combinations, solid portion sizes and quality ingredients. If you are in town give this place a shot.

    We loved the chicken taco special for lunch. Very tasty, fresh, crunchy and well-prepared. The salsa was yummy. It's their own concoction and they sell it by the jar. Our server was attentive, warm and friendly. Great experience all around!

    This was a great surprise in quite the sleepy little town. We rented a cabin up here for labor day weekend, and got exactly what we wanted... rest and relaxation... On our first night in town however we asked a local for a good recommended for an 8pm dinner... and he and his wife... after talking it over recommended Tari's. This place is a sight... a groovy art gallery with a 4 star restaurant inside. The service was fantastic, the food was creative (but locally influenced) and cooked quite well... and the Jalapeno fondue was incredible. They also featured quite the spread of brews and wines to choose from, with a great selection of local beers. The prices were a little steep, but I'd say if your doing one night out... this wouldn't be a bad place to go with a group.

    ~~~~TARI TARI DAY ~~~ Apologies to Don McLean's "Starry, Starry Night" and Josh Groban's cover for that matter ~~~~~~~~~ Our delightful waitress told me that Tari's only cooks burgers medium well and well done. I told her that medium well should still be pink in the center. She warned me that it would come out cooked all the way through. I took a chance that I could get a little pink, maybe even red, in my Black & Bleu burger. But she was right. In a rueful mood, I composed lyrics to the tune of "Starry, Starry Night." Tari Tari Day, Broil your burgers until their brown and grey, Look out, well-done is the only way With fries that fill the darkness in my soul Artwork on the walls Sketch pinks and reds that I recall But don't appear on my plate at all, Just colors that match the rocky mountain land. Now I understand what you tried to say to me Medium-well will come out well-done you see It's the color of a manatee, The cook would not listen, or he did not know how. I doubt he'll listen now.
    Great restaurant. Friendly upbeat staff, and terrific food. Our party had the salmon special as well as a standard menu item - beef tips with mushrooms onions and smoked blue cheese. The salmon was very very good but the beef dish was incredible. Pleasant atmosphere and pricing seemed commensurate with the quality and freshness of the food. Leave room for the bread which was terrific as well
    Three of us had a wonderful lunch at Tari's Cafe last week. A unique and varied menu was supported by good service to make ours a very nice dining experience. The art and decorations throughout this restaurant add to its ambiance. We all recommend Tari's for lunch if you are in the area.
    I lived and worked in Berkeley Springs for a while, and one of the many elements that I miss is Tari's and the people that work there. It is such a welcoming place. From the local artwork that decorates the walls, to a local wailing on the microphone during Jam Night on Thursdays. The food is fresh and wonderful as well. They are always mixing up something new in the kitchen while continuing to cook perfection in the favorites already on the menu. Locale flair is the best garnish! Go and tell Tari, Mikey, Veronica and the bunch hello. While you're there...order a Pasta Chesapeake for me please!
    We arrived without a reservation in a group of 13. The staff seated us immediately and were very friendly and attentive. The menu features pasta dishes and a wide variety of seafood. The Moody Blues pasta was tasty and unique. The mussels appetizer was excellent. I must disagree with the other reviewers on the crab cakes, I would call them good, but made with way too much bread crumbs for my liking. Overall this was a great dining experience with friendly attentive staff, and would recommend to all.
    My wife and I stopped by while on vacation and walked up to the bar and sat down. There were about 2 other couples sitting in the bar side so they were by no means busy. After about 15 minutes of being ignored we walked out. The bartender and 2 other staff members gave us the side eye but didn't offer a "hello" or any kind of acknowledgment at all. Maybe because we are in our 30's and looked too young to be bothered with or because I wasn't wearing a polo shirt tucked into khaki shorts with a belt we looked too poor to be served is no excuse for deplorable service.
    We stayed in Berkeley Springs this past weekend and heard a lot of great things about Tari's. And they were all true! We had lunch in the bar area and the decorating really gives you a lot to look at. The service was quick and friendly and the menu - wow! Tons of unique items, as well as the standards. Get the Cream of Crab soup. Trust me. I know crabs, and this soup is incredible.
  • Lee C.
    The crab cake and pulled pork sandwiches from the lunch menu were fantastic; however, my wife did not care for the French onion soup or the vegetable panini. The soup was way too salty and the Panini was dressed with a heavy drizzle of balsamic reduction on the outside of the bread which made for a sticky, messy experience. Being a woman who appreciates feedback, she mentioned to the waitress that the panini was delicious but the balsamic reduction would be better in the inside (and maybe something about a gooey mess). The waitress acknowledged the feedback with two wet naps. We needed a third!
    Their food is a cut above average, but it's the kind of place where you think you're having a good meal then find a hair in your food. Their french onion soup is to die for, but most other meals we've had have been just okay. Portions are a little skimpy for the price. Props for offering chips and salsa as a side dish. Great local art to look at (and perhaps buy) while you eat. All in all, a decent place but nothing to write home about.
    Country roads Bring me home To the land I belong... West Virginia Mountain Mamma Take me home, country roads... The song is playing in Tari's during dinner; twilight outside and warmth inside. The food is wonderfully, country fresh: I had the French onion soup and the apples, roquefort & roasted walnut salad with raspberry vinaigrette. It's crunchy, sweet, salty - delicious! Tari's is a laid-back country restaurant with hand-made crafts, jewelry and art for sale or just to enjoy; the cafe is on the main street of the town and around the corner from the bathhouse, Berkeley Springs. I like the way the bread comes out on a cutting board, and someone at the table is the designated bread & butter server. Great comfort food and service.
    I have to agree with the other post. The crab cakes are the best you'll find outside the DC/Metro area. Nice selection of beer. Tari's is split into two parts, the bar and the dinning room. The bar area is very rustic, the dinning room is a little more up scale but still manages to mantain the rustic feel of the bar. Lot's of local art on the walls. Tari's is just a very cool place for a cold beer or very nice dinner.
    i've been meaning to write about how we were treated here for quite a while-better late than never so here we go... my husband and i visit his father who lives in this area at least once a year, and as much as i (really do) love my in-laws, we need to get out and have a drink. after reading the GLOWING reviews on this place, i'm still kind of shocked by our own experience. we sat down at the bar, and the bartender glanced at us, glowered, and promptly pretended we didn't exist. there weren't very many people in the place at all, so i cannot justify being so obviously ignored for as long as we were. i hate leaving bad reviews, however the treatment we got warrants the one star. a couple other staff members flicked their eyes at us and chose to ignore us as well. we were shocked, and as a youngish well-dressed-albiet-funky couple we didn't 'fit in' with the older (but loudly drunk on wine) crowd. i checked business hours, so i know it wasn't because we were walking in right at closing time. i felt like we were judged by our (tattooed) skin. eff this place.
    We've gone to Tari's & stayed at the rooms for several years. now, & we're still happy with the price of the rooms & our dinners. I was very happy to see that they could make some adjustments to my dietary needs. We've seen a slow evolution in the menu though. It looks like it's become simpler, although this could be a transition to a different culinary style. The "grown up grilled cheese" panini was a bit unbalanced. We didn't see any of the problems with service which other diners have experienced.
    Our family had a lovely dinner here after a bike trip on the trail. Hopefully they got the message from earlier posts re the service because ours was quite good. Lowpoint of food was bread and salad --- weird bread and not great salad dressing (too much rosemary?) which seems silly. But mahi, lamb, earth & water (steak and crab imperial) were all very tasty with good portions and nice sides. It's not inexpensive, but at least it's a full meal by the time you are done. We were too full for dessert ---next time!
    Nice country style cafe with a lot of glass and other arts. We had the onion soup (good, but way too salty), seafood special (crab legs were spoiled), chicken chasseur (ckicken ok, but sauce was awful). Friends said this was not a good night for Tari's.
    I went here randomly with my parents on a drive back from PA. What a little gem of a place! Looking at it from the outside, you would never think that just inside the door is a haven for artists and great food and wine. I had the salmon and I ate everything on my plate. Very friendly place, and atmosphere. I really wanted to buy some of the pottery and local art, but didn't have much time to browse. I can't wait to go back.
    I recently went to Tari's (first time) while staying at the Inn for the weekend. My friends and I had heard so many recommendations for Tari's that we were expecting either a great culinary experience and/or a place with great character. The food was very average and in our opinion, overpriced for what it was. The ambiance was also very average. The thing that stands out the most is that it was very cold in the restaurant. It is an okay place, but the Inn at Berkeley Springs actually has a much better restaurant for about the same prices.
    (Based on 3 visits there...) So I understand this is a small town with limited eating options, but if you're going to charge people a lot, better make sure it's worth it! This place is over-rated or the people rating it so high have not eaten anywhere else! I went there each time ordering something different hoping it will be good, but I was disappointed each time:( The food had poorly mixed spices. The Jambalaya was not good at all. My NY strip steak (ordered medium cooked, on 2 different occasions) was dry and chewy. The fish had no taste and was oily. The atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly though - so 1 star for that.
    Four stars because it is the best game in town and the Maryland Crab Bisque is to die for. The freshly made iced tea is always a good bet when it's warm out. The salads are tasty and nicely presented. My wife and I have only eaten lunch here as it is the midway point between where we live in Virginia and her childhood home in Western PA.
    What a cute little place! The staff is friendly and efficient, the draft beer selection is small but really good with regional options. The food was, for the most part, tasty as well. Our hummus app was absolutely delicious - some of the best we've had anywhere. The Mahi tacos I ordered were less than amazing...somewhat disappointing since everything else was so well flavored and prepared. Still would choose Tari's anytime we're passing through Berkley Springs!
    Service was great (thanks Justin!) Food was pretty good (maybe pass on the fish and chips but definitely get the French Dip sandwich!!!). And the local art on walls gives it the perfect "local" ambiance. Crab cake sandwich was not bad, but I loved my tomato arugula bisque! Desserts are sweet but good. I liked the peanut butter chocolate pie :) Usually don't like super sweet, but I was able to enjoy it.
    Celebrated our 25th anniversary here with fresh salads, warm fresh-baked bread, an ever-so-slightly-overcooked filet mignon, the best salmon my wife ever tasted, and a very tasty cheesecake. The waitstaff was very personable, welcoming, and responsive.
    Four of us at 4:30. They presented us with both the lunch and the dinner menu; saying that we were there at the "in between" time, and we could order off of either menu. Very nice of them. Synopsis is that the burger, the grinder and the falafel sandwich rec'd rave reviews. The BBQ pork was too spicy for our friend. Kettle chips come with 95% of the meals on the menu. I asked the waitress what they had that can be substituted. She named off a few starchy items. When I told her that I was looking for something "green" she said they have spinach. Two of us had the spinach and it was delicious! Service was excellent. We've dined there a few times before and we'll be back.
    Small town or not, it's not always easy to find a place that will cater to a group of women, all of whom have diverse tastes, many with food allergies, and of course all of whom want their bills split. Well, if you're in Berkeley Springs for a girls' weekend, then Tari's might just be the place for you and your gal pals. With a party of 8, we were keen to have a reservation for a late weekend lunch, and we really lucked out with Whitney as our waitress. Not only was she upbeat and pleasant, she was also really great about perfectly executing all of our orders, bringing out food in the correct cadence, and best of all, coming around to each one of us at the table with the restaurant's iPad and Square reader to run each of our credit cards directly and separately! Location is very convenient to all downtown attractions, and parking is easy - the adorable and old-fashioned parking meters will give you one hour for only one quarter! The atmosphere is spacious and lends itself well to both larger parties as well as smaller tables. At lunch time, acoustics seemed well-controlled, although I can imagine it could be a little loud with a full house to due to the open space and myriad wood/hard surfaces. I just cannot get over the reasonable prices of WV (please, don't change!). Cocktails ranged in price from $8 to $10, and were HUGE and actually contained alcohol. What a concept! I thoroughly enjoyed my CocoRita, with its salty-sweet coconut/salted rim, tasty tequila, coconut infused flavors, and its ability to last throughout most of my lunch. For starters, I ordered the Tomato Mozzarella Bisque, and while it wasn't a super-pretty presentation, the flavors were right-on and the "poached" mozzarella in the soup, along with the shredded arugula, made for a tasty way to start my meal. For my main, I enjoyed one of the salads; this one was comprised of a freshly-sliced apple, along with spiced pecans, local goat cheese, all served atop mixed leafy greens and accompanied by a (surprisingly) good house-made raspberry vinaigrette. My gluten-free Celiac friend appreciated that she was able to get the "Special" sandwich of the day, a salmon BLT, without the bread, and the assurance that the salmon wasn't crusted, all while served with a side salad and extra veggies, for no up-charge. The balance of the table really loved the grown-up grilled cheese, along with the crab soup. The French fries were also a hit, as they were like the extra-crispy Ore-Ida fries many of us recall from childhood. And, of course, the food was reasonably-priced as well. $25 for a cocktail, soup, and entree salad? Get outta town!
    Stylish decor, prompt service and interesting dishes. I ordered the charbroiled chicken sandwhich which was pretty good, i wasn't a big fan of the kettle chips. You may want to avoid this place if you're an extremely picky eater.
    Tari's is still the best game in town but I have to knock it down a star because the menu does not change regularly like it used to and the prices have ticked up a little more. Still under Lot 12 prices but too much for what it is.
    We were out on our motorcycle and wanted a relaxing lunch. Stopped and was very pleased. My wife had a glass of Riesling and we shared the pimento cheese dip, yum. It and the meal were served with kettle chips that were fantastic. I had the lunch box which was a trip back in time to when I was a kid. A really good, simple sandwich. My wife had the pig dipper which was excellent as well. We will definitely be back.
    Wonderful meal in Berkeley Springs, walking distance from the springs. Upscale atmosphere but child-friendly = winner. Portions are ample, LOVED the local smoked mushrooms. Excellent service, very attentive and friendly. Thanks for making us feel welcomed guests.
    You definitely get the feeling local inns get kickbacks for recommending Tari's, although they are one of the few games in town. Pros - innovative, healthy, delicious dishes. We ordered soups and apps. I had the tomato basil bisque and the flatbread; my boyfriend tried the hummus and chili. Both dishes were presented well and full of flavor. Cons - be prepared for a significant uptick in price between weeknights and weekends. I believe weeknights are $12 for a meal. On weekends, soups are $5-6, apps are $10-18, entrees are $20+. They are definitely adapting to visitors wallets... Also, the outside looks completely dated, with a logo from the 80s that doesn't really match their look on the inside.
    We've enjoyed Teri's food, service, ambiance and accommodations for many years. The "sleep and dine for $199" is our favorite and a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary or just a week-end getaway. The price includes 2 nights in one of the rooms above the restaurant and 4 meals. (2 lunches and 2 dinners). The rooms are one flight up and, in Teri's words, "ain't the Ritz" but are comfortable and have a quaintness that we enjoy. The front room has a nice view but traffic noise is a consideration. The 2 back rooms are off the street and much quieter. We usually spend the day at Cacapon State Park and are only in the rooms at night so they suit us just fine. The dining room is the real draw. In the 10 plus years we've been coming here we have never been disappointed. The dishes are fresh and cooked to perfection. We are not big meat eaters and rarely (no pun intended) order steak but the filet is hard to pass up, charred and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The seafood, pasta, vegetarian dishes are salads excellent, especially the salmon salad. The chef has a delicate way with herbs and spices, tomato bisque is a good example. The menu does not change as much as it had but you get the feeling that each meal is cooked just for you. Tari's is a family operation and the owner's daughter is one of the servers, she will be glad to give you a little history if they're not too busy.
    We wanted some healthy snacks after our soak at the Roman bath house before our big new year eve dinner somewhere else. We were pleasantly surprised that they still served regular lunch and Dinner menus!!! We ordered a rustic salad and a falafel with curried hummus. They were both very delicious. All the ingredients were put on point and there were so many flavors in these simple dish. I would call it new delicate American with slight fusion. We sat at the bar side of the restaurant. The decor was modern and warm! There were beautiful modern artworks displayed. The service was perfect and we would highly recommend.
    Stopped in for lunch. Sons enjoyed the large burgers and fries and the battered fish/chips. I liked the turkey baguette and house chips. Wife was not fond of the frittata (she thought it was dry), but the accompanying salad was delicious. We were in and out in under an hour.
    My husband and I ate at Tari's last night and it was amazing! I never eat my whole meal and I ate every last bite. Our waiter was fantastic and knowledgable about the food and the neighborhood. I had the swordfish with polenta, asparagus and olive tapenade which was so flavorful. My husband had the pork ribeye with fennel mashed potatoes and apples, the pork was so tender and delicious. When it was time for dessert we were both stuffed! But they brought out the tray and we couldn't say no. I had the amazing creme brûlée and my husband had the chocolate peanut butter pie! Definitely will be back!
    Stopped here for lunch while playing tourist with my wife. They were very full, but quickly got us at a table in the bar area (they gave us the option, we took it), which I appreciated. Given the crowd, the staff was hustling to attend to customers. Their "Almost" Famous Crab Soup we both had we would say lives up to it's name - in the sense that while it is good, we would certainly stop short of stating it was great. Had salads for lunch, I had the Smoke House salad and my wife had the Rustic Harvest salad. We were both very happy with the portions. My Smoke House had plenty of meat! Yay meat! I did note Taris seems to want to give a fresh twist of some kind to menu items, so I did appreciate the combinations of flavors. I really would not mind coming back to try a few more. And the expense was really very reasonable, this is a good value for the $$ spent. The salads which were plenty filling and tasted nice were $10 or less. While we did not avail ourselves of more than a glass each of some house wine (A Malbec & an effing Merlot), it seemed like their bar selections included plenty of choices. Our waiter was also attentive, even if busy, and I did not wait inappropriately at any time. The local artwork did add to the ambiance, and we had some fun checking it out before we left.
    My wife and I ate at Tari's last night and it was phenomenal. We started with the crab fondue, which was delicious and could have easily been an appetizer for four people. I had the Pasta Chesapeake and my wife had the Pecan Crusted Salmon. We loved it all. Our server was fantastic as well; I wish I remembered her name so I could give her a shoutout here. I was born and raised in Berkeley Springs but have spent the last 15 years living elsewhere - Shanghai, China; Dallas, TX; and Memphis, TN, which are all great food cities. Tari's is comparable in price and quality to the same level of dining experience in those other cities.
    My girlfriend found this restaurant on Yelp while we were in town for a day-trip. As two people who really appreciate good food, we both agreed this place is a gem. We were seated promptly at a table by the window looking out on the street (nice view of town) and our waitress was friendly and helpful, offering us good input on food and drink selections. I enjoyed a local microbrew, and my girlfriend had a jalapeño margarita which was just about the tastiest and spiciest cocktail I've ever had. It's a must try! For an appetizer we had the curry hummus, which was incredibly flavorful and served with warm, soft triangles of pita bread. If I had any complaint about this restaurant it's that we could've used a little more pita bread since we still had hummus left when the bread was gone. Our lunch entrees were fantastic. I had the "griddle pig" which was Carolina BBQ pork served on bread. The sandwich bread was epic- soft and buttery but toasted just perfectly so that each bite was mouthwatering, and the BBQ pork was delicious. My girlfriend had the "Tari's French Dip," and this was delicious as well, with savory rib eye and tasty au jus sauce for dipping. As with my sandwich, the baguette they served it on was incredible, toasty an delicious. The cole slaw and French fry sides our lunches came with were also very good and complimented the main courses well. All in all, this is a fantastic place if you want delicious food, great drinks, and friendly West Virginia service in a clean and comfortable atmosphere for a reasonable price. I'll be coming back on my next visit to Berkeley Springs.
    My wife and I ate in the restaurant and rented one of the rooms upstairs. The rooms are in dire need of updating but were relatively clean and comfortable. But then again, the room rates are very low and we really enjoyed our stay. Everyone here is so friendly. From Rhonda who works the bar, to Russell who waited on us in the restaurant, the service was excellent. My wife had the crab cakes. They were fresh and my wife said they were the best she ever had. For my dinner, Russell recommended the fennel-pepper rubbed pork roast. Wow, it was tender and flavorful. Their salad dressing was a home made raspberry vinegarette. They also had a nice selection of wines. I was not expecting this in WVA. They sometimes run weekend specials that include dinner and lodging and this would make for a nice weekend trip. Be sure to visit the baths too. Berkeley Springs is beautiful in the fall and is only a 4 hour drive away.
    This is I think one of the only two restaurants where I left no tip so far in my life, and here's why. We came in past 2:30 for a late lunch; the place wasn't that crowded. Ordered a beer, a salad, and a sandwich altogether. It took over ten minutes for the beer to come. I mean, come on. Just as we thought the waiter probably forgot about it and started banking on him voiding that item off our check, he somehow remembered and belatedly brought the beer. Then it took at least another 40 minutes for the salad and sandwich to arrive. I got the Tari's chop chop salad. It was decent, but in all seriousness does it really take an hour to prepare this and the simple sandwich? At one point we almost stood up and just left. We would've left a few dollars for the beer, but the whole experience was so exasperating that I just wanted to leave. The waiter came over once (approximately 45-50 minutes after we'd placed our order) to say our food would be right out. I suspect he had forgotten to put our order in until then. It took less than 10 minutes after that to get our food; and that would've been the reasonable amount of time to prepare what we got. If it takes over an hour to prepare a simple salad and sandwich when the place isn't even that crowded, how long would it take to get a full table's food during peak hours? Two hours? The menu seemed diverse and fun, and I can see the how the art decor can blend into the culinary design. We would've enjoyed our experience had the waitstaff exhibited more competency.
    My husband and I ate at Tari's recently and found it to be one of the best places we've eaten at in quite a while. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, concerned, and efficient. Other staff members lent a hand if they saw an empty plate on the table. I had the crab cakes and my husband had the Pasta Chesapeake. Both were generously portioned and very tasty. I don't think I've even seen such large lumps of crab. The ambiance was good.....quiet and well-lit without being too bright. While it was a pricy meal, it was well worth it and we'll definitely be back.
    For a special occasion, Tari's is one of my favorites. Atmosphere is creative and relaxing at the same time. Service has always been outstanding. Food is delicious, sometimes portions are a little small. A little high priced for me to be a regular. Overall it is a great restaurant with friendly and professional staff.
    Great food. Great service. Great local art. I came here for lunch with my family on Father's Day, and we couldn't have picked a better place to eat. Our waitress was patient and guided us through the menu. She took the time provide us with feedback about her personal favorites on the menu. Each of us ordered something different on the menu - from the salads to the burgers to the paninis and sandwiches -- EVERY order was superb and reasonably priced to boot. We were so impressed, we even ordered dessert! I will definitely be back. What a treat!
    I reserved at Tari's (for a room, not dinner) several weeks in advance of a Saturday night stay (and after reading a number of reviews, due to concerns about whether, given the price, it would be ok). The short version of what happened (because I'm still very upset) was that I made a reservation by phone, confirmed it with my credit card, got the name of the woman who took the reservation, and discussed with her whether I needed a dinner reservation for the Saturday night we would be there (she said "no"). On the day we were to arrive, I called to tell them we were arriving late -- around 6 pm or so. I was told there was no record of our reservation. I asked to have the owner, Amy, call me back, which she did. Amy told me that she had a system in place that ensured they didn't make mistakes and that the woman with whom I had made the reservation didn't recall our conversation -- therefore, I had never made the reservation. Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed with Amy's response -- at this point, all I really wanted was an "I'm so sorry this happened" and help finding somewhere to stay, as we were on our way to Berkeley Springs. While I was calmly saying to Amy that I was disappointed with her response, she hung up on me. You only have my word for the fact that I was calm, but I was. So, even if Tari's is a nice place to stay, I would suggest you find somewhere else, given Amy's behavior.
    I joined Yelp just to write about Tari's restaurant. My SO and I had read about this place and were interested in trying it on a day trip to Berkeley Springs. We pulled up and saw that they had jalapeño margaritas. I'm not a huge margarita fan, but I thought I'd give it a try. It was mind blowing. Seriously. Super spicy, just a little bit salty, and the perfect amount of alcohol. SO good. My SO got a WV brew (they had quite a few local options!) and it was very good as well. We started with a curried hummus. The pita was delicious and perfectly grilled (didn't taste as if it was made in house though) and the hummus was garlicky, minty, and full of flavor. I had the French dip which was very tender, smothered in onions, mushrooms, and horseradish. Fresh bread, perfectly grilled. My only complaint was the frozen French Fries and Heinz tomato ketchup. Very unimpressed. My SO had a barbecue sandwich which he enjoyed thoroughly. The bread was buttery and toasty. A good choice if you like Carolina style barbecue! Service and decor were exceptional. Unexpected creativity in food, drinks, and decor for the state of WV. An excellent choice for any day in Berkeley Springs.
    After a morning at the spa, my friends and I decided to stop by Tari's Café for lunch. We were greeted pleasantly by the hostess and shown our table. The atmosphere is understated in dark colors with pops of bright colors from gallery like art hanging around the walls. We didn't get a chance to go into the bar area, but it seemed to be decorated in the same gallery theme. Our server was very friendly, took our drink order and recommended an appetizer. We chose the pimento cheese dip since that isn't something we regularly see at home. It was served hot with homemade kettle fried chips. I ordered a sandwich called the "flying pig", our server recommended it. It was an original that is for sure. Hamburger patty, vinegar based pork BBQ, strips of bacon and a yummy cherry BBQ sauce, served with a side of coleslaw. It was unique and very tasty. We were told by someone at the spa to get the peanut butter pie which sadly they were out of, so we improvised with the key lime pie and oh I am so happy we did. The key lime pie here is to die for; it was light and refreshing and had the perfect amount of sweetness! My one complaint from the experience... I ordered an Arnold Palmer at the tune of $2.99, and half way thru it, another waitress came from behind and filled up my drink with plain iced tea. Granted, I was drinking a tea based beverage but I totally lost the half and half option I was shooting for. I guess I could have said something, but she was just doing her job... but maybe she could have asked what I was drinking first. The reviews on Yelp stated more than once that the staff here had a reputation of turning their noses up at people dressed in lounge street clothes and those that have visible tattoos. I cant speak for others, but my friends and I had just come from the spa... had zero make up on, hair a mess, covered in massage oil, wearing tanks, tees and had plenty of visible tattoos from shoulder to toe, and we never once had the vibe that we were not welcome there. Perhaps the vibes others picked up on came from the dinner staff... but we were right at home.
    Pretty awesome local place. Great food, reasonable prices and good beer selection. Our group stopped in for a late lunch at Tari's and will go there again next time we pass through Berkley Springs. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Good selection of microbrews and local beers on tap and the waiter eagerly offered a sample for my wife who was unsure about a particular beer. The burgers are great! Try the Warren Burger.
    We had been avoiding this among the restaurants in town because it seemed a bit pricey-- Entrees range from about 18 to 26, I believe. Man, were we lucky we had a terrible experience with Ambraehouse down the street! We came in a little before 8, starving. Took some time staring at the menu before deciding on the falafel appetizer and our entrees. The falafel was great- creamy, well seasoned, crunch on the outside without being greasy. Served with grilled pita, tzatziki, and some really good hummus. My only complaint-not enough pita for the generous amount of hummus, so we asked for some more pita ($1 charge, but whatever). I had the saffron aroncini, which was absolutely delicious-- real saffron flavor game through, and the grilled vegetables, smoked tomato sauce, and cream sauce were all delicious. One friend had the Mahi, which came with crab in a creamy sauce and mashed potatoes. Another friend had an asian chicken salad. We all enjoyed everything we had. Even the bread that comes for the table was lovely! One thing the menu doesn't note: all the entrees come with a starter salad (mostly greens, with some croutons, a slice of cucumber and a grape tomato) dressed lightly in their house herb balsamic vinaigrette. Portions are really generous, and everything tasted fantastic. The service was also great-- friendly servers, just the right level of attention, and it was clear that the staff was working as a team-- when another server walked by and noticed we might need something, they either took care of it themselves or went and got our server to come over as soon as possible. If this place was in DC or Baltimore, or even my hometown of Columbia, they would likely be fully justified charging their entrees in the $30-40 range. We came in probably on the late end for this town, but were by no means the last group--several tables came in after us, the last one we noticed around 9:05. We left around 9:15. In retrospect, we were really glad that Ambraehouse clearly has some trouble communicating with their staff-- if not, we would not have tried this gem!
    Nice - can go from fairly casual to fancy. Lots looked great on the menu. The salmon was really good. The pasta that was supposed to have the "olive melange" was so-so. We'd go back to try something new!
    Visiting and decided to stop for lunch. Service is a little slow even when not busy. Food was ok nothing to rave about and seemed a little pricey for lunch.The place was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. I would not make a special trip here but would try it again if I was in neighborhood.
    Stopped in for a coffee in the bar on a cold snowy day in February. My tiramisu coffee spread warmth throughout my body. The friendly waitress said they would have a Sunday brunch so we came back that day expecting the usual eggs Benedict, etc. Instead they had steak and salmon - not our idea of brunch. They had no breakfast items at all. Definitely go here for lunch and dinner but check the details before you try breakfast or brunch.
    I was not going in with my hopes too high with this restaurant. From being an avid restaurant-goer while living in DC, then the same when moving to Baltimore, I expect things to live up to a certain standard. I was a little worried when they were suggested to us at the spa, I asked 'what kind of food do they serve? Is it only American food?' I received only blank stares as if they couldn't think of other types of food than American. We went with a same day reservation for a party of 7 on a Saturday, and things couldn't have been more perfect! They had tables ready for us and we were in a less busy area in order to really enjoy each others' company. Our server was extremely pleasant and her work and suggestions were phenomenal! The calamari (in WV!!!) was delicious! The flat bread was wonderful! Our wide selections of chosen entrees were all beautifully presented and tasted heavenly! I, with the Pasta Chesapeake, couldn't have been more pleased! And the drinks! Oh the drinks were great! Starting with a Tari's Tini (awesome) then asked for another suggestion only to find out they serve Moscow Mule in the copper mug (which was freaking awesome!) and to top everything off, we had two birthday girls celebrating and we got Pumpkin Spice Irish Coffees with the candles on top to celebrate (and they were awesome as well!). Really, any time I go through the area again, between this restaurant, and quite a few of the quaint wonderful shops, I will definitely be going to Tari's again, and to Berkeley Springs as a whole!
    Came for dinner and lunch with my wife... Food was decent - nothing particularly special .. but not bland either. My wife had the salmon which was good (and i dont like fish) and i had the NY Strip which was tasty. Ordered the fried calamari which had more peppers then squid.. which was a bummer. Dessert was so-so... Priced perhaps a tad more then it should be... still enjoyed it, and looking at the local art on the walls. (Everyone in town raved about their cream of crab soup... we weren't terribly impressed)
    I stopped here with my wife and three little boys for a quick meal on our way to DC. The food was excellent. The service was adequate. The 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill was not appreciated. I asked the waiter about it and he said adding 20% gratuity for parties of 5 or more was their policy. I don't consider a family of 5 to be a "party." That kind of policy is associated with a group of diners, several families or friends, who end up paying separately. Regardless of the food quality we will not be returning. I have no problem tipping well for good service. However I don't appreciate being forced to tip 20%. This place doesn't offer service worthy of a 20% tip. 12%-15% is what I normally tip for good service.
    The food is great as is the atmosphere. I had a blackened chicken salad which came in a reasonably sized portion at a decent price. I also stole some pasta and some fish from my dining companions and those were delicious as well. I also had Creme Brûlée which was super tasty. Tari's is quite nicely decorated and I enjoy that there were pieces from local artists and jewelers. Would definitely recommend!
    Very good food. My son had buttermilk fried chicken tenders served with a generous amount of thick cut french fries. My husband ate the club sandwich which was a big sandwich. I ate a roast beef on ciabatta with caramelized onions which came with a small side salad that had what tasted like a homemade raspberry vinaigrette. It was all delicious. Ambiance was casual. They have art all over the walls and some that you can peruse thru while you wait for your meal. Lots of space for a large family. Staff was very friendly. Service was timely. No complaints.
    We walked in from the rain, and on this particular Sunday night, Tari's was pretty much the only place open in Berkeley Springs. We yelped it, and cool, we didn't have much choice really. I'm SO glad we came. I got the Waterman's Feast, and it truly was a feast. Lump crab cake, broiled scallops, steamed shrimp, green lip mussels, and a snow crab cluster. Oh, and a little plate of fettucini. Everything was great. I eat a lot of seafood and this was a great way to sample a bunch of things that they serve at Tari's. The gentleman that waited on us essentially recommended everything by name. This is usually a sign of a really good place to eat or a REALLY indecisive omnivore. Luckily it seemed to be the former. All the food was fresh and tasty. Friends of mine got the Jambalaya Ya Ya which he said was perfect and he didn't want to get a dessert because he wanted the taste to linger in his mouth a little longer. My girlfriend got the Jail Island Salmon, which was awesome, and another friend got Crab Cakes. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going to stop in here and grab dinner again! And another note....do NOT skip dessert. They change often.
    I absolutely enjoyed this place for lunch. Had a $10 burger that was absolutely amazing. Well done (the only way you can have it in WV from what I've heard) but it was still thick and juicy. The fries were solid, but not great. My lady has the crab cake and salad. Both were good too. Some people complain about the service, but I thought the waitresses were fantastic. Very nice, helpful, and fast. I will come back any time I'm in town and recommend you do the same!
    Best lunch I've had in a very long time!! Such a cute, yet unassuming place that offers quality food and quality service. Our waiter was charming and attentive without being overbearing. I had the gazpacho and salad. Both were superb! We started out with the housemade hummus - oh my, it is the best I've ever had! They add curry powder and almond slivers...so good - you must try this! The wine list looked great as well.
    This seems to be the only place with some life in Berkeley Springs. The atmosphere is calm, cool, and quiet. Our server was kind and offered suggestions. We started with the falafel appetizer, which was really small at $10. It was served with yogurt sauce, hummus, and pita points. That being said, the falafel was the best I've ever had (and I've had falafel at least 20 times, from various middle eastern institutions). It was salty, creamy, and garlicky in the center with a crispy outside that wasn't oily. I think it was battered or breaded, which isn't traditional, but certainly welcome. The entrees came, surprisingly, with a mixed salad and a nice vinaigrette first. I ordered the wild mushroom linguine at the indication of our server. She proudly stated that they smoke their own shiitake, oyster, and cremini in-house. This sounded really impressive, but unfortunately all I got were some button mushrooms. They had nice flavor, but I was expecting more. The pasta was, unfortunately, over-cooked. At least 2 minutes past al dente. The menu seems to rely heavily on linguine, so this was disappointing. I'd likely come back for lunch, just for more falafel, but overall this place is just okay for me. The prices were a bit steep and the food wasn't spectacular overall.
    Stopped into Tari's as a lunch break during a long drive south. We were trying to go for a quick late lunch around 2:30 when we figured the restaurant would be quiet. Not quite. The Arts in the Park event was clearly a big draw and that meant that Tari's was busy too. We waited awhile at the door before the hostess arrived. We were sat quickly despite the crowd which was nice. Our server was nice, but slightly flustered by the crowd. The menu was very diverse which made the decision difficult. I ordered the Fish and Chips with an extra side of the sweet potato tots. The meal took a bit to prepare but when it arrived the food was very good. Crispy fish with a nice tartar sauce. I'm glad I got the extra tots for a couple reasons 1) they were really really good 2) my serving of fries was fairly skimpy. The fries are described as salt and malt vinegar boardwalk fries but certainly weren't seasoned that way. My mother got the fish tacos and really enjoyed them. My aunt got the griddle pig. She liked it but found it to be a bit spicy for her taste. I really liked all of the local artwork that was featured on the walls. Lunch was good and if I ever find myself in Berkeley Springs, it is likely that I would return.
    Definitely a do-over! Was going to go the evening before but decided it was a bit too pricey. Went for lunch (quite affordable) and sat at the bar... Great Happy Waiter :) and enjoyed every bit of food. Had the flatbread for appetizer, falafel burger and mahi taco for entrée... VERY VERY yummy.... After eating lunch I would definitely splurge on dinner here!
    One of the best meals we have had and we eat out a lot. Kids meals were as good as ours and not dumbed down for kids. Our food was spectacular, so much so that we had to order dessert. We never order dessert and had NO room. But we had to try it!! Not disappointed. You must try Tari's.
    I ate lunch at Tari's Cafe back in early August on my birthday when I drove up to Berkeley Springs to do some antiquing. The woman who seated me (she was also the bartender I believe) was very friendly. My lunch was actually quite good - an excellent "adult" grilled cheese sandwich and tomato/basil soup. I really did enjoy the food. One reason I can't give this restaurant a better rating was that the waitress' service, while starting out ok, went downhill and became downright annoying by the end of the meal. I had asked to see the dessert menu which she never brought, despite the place not being busy at all, so I finally had to ask the bartender to bring it. Considering the quality of the lunch, the "sample" tray of desserts looked boring and uninspired. I wish restaurants would realize that presenting desserts in this way is simply unappetizing. Do they present other menu offerings like this? Of course not. I passed on dessert as nothing looked very good. When the waitress finally brought the "check" it was via an iPad. This was ok in and of itself but what irritated me was that she stood there and waited while I was supposed to choose which percentage to tip her. That frankly struck me as a bit over the top. I understand that some retail establishments are going to this format of check-out. But the waitress also failed to provide me with a ticket showing two things. One, a listing of what I was charged for so that I could see that she hadn't overcharged me. Note to Tari's management: mistakes do happen. And of course, there was no breakout showing me what the food/drink cost exclusive of tax. Another note to Tari's: you should not expect tips to be based on totals including tax. I ended up telling the waitress I would not include the tip on the iPad and that, should I decide to tip, would leave that in cash. I did leave her around 15% - more than she deserved. .
    Great service and good food. Had appetizers and dessert and we were full. Mussels with pesto toast, calamari, and heirloom tomato tarte. The calamari is made with jalapeño so it was spicier than the typical variety.
    I went for lunch and had the Philly Cheese Steak with shoestring fries. The sandwich had shaved ribeye, Gruyere cheese, forest mushrooms, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and sort of a mesclun mix. It also came with garlic mayonnaise, but I hate mayo, so I had them leave it off. I also asked them to saute the tomatoes. The bun was a fairly ordinary club roll, but it was fresh. All of the fillings were nicely cooked and flavorful. It was sort of a "sophisticated" Philly that worked well. The shoestring fries were great -- really thin, crisp, and not at all greasy.
    This is an extremely high end place. If you're looking for a side of distinguished in this dismal area, you should be here. Pros: Food is above my taste but is definitely cooked by someone who knows what they're doing. Service is excellent Clean and well maintained establishment Cons: Price is high but overall I think it fits the establishment so maybe not an outright con Overall this place is definitely for people looking for fine dining in this area. They do have kids food but I would say this is more for a couple looking for a fine dining establishment to spend time together or what not. Prepare to test your taste buds on this one as their food is pushing boundaries. Would probably get 5 stars from me just not my cup of tea.
    We stopped in for an early light dinner on a weeknight while on a road trip. My husband had the tomato soup and a side of smoked mushrooms. I had the Harvest Salad (and shared my naan with him). All were delicious. The service was friendly, and the interior is appealing. No regrets.
    I've been going here on my way through town since high school and I still enjoy it. The food is very reasonable and delicious, while some dishes are even adventurous. What makes the experience is the service, which is perfect and formal but not stiff. Every server in here is good at their craft and genuinely knows the menu. It's a very comforting place to eat and enjoy.
    This place is a gem. The food is always at least good--sometimes amazing but never bad. The lunch portions are a good size; I've split a sandwich for lunch and been quite full. soups are always delicious. For dinner I usually also split an entree (we tend to go for a girls' weekend kind of thing so this may not apply to big eaters) and also get an app or two or soup or salad. It's not that the dinner entrees are huge; it's more that they are normal size (which is probably still larger than I would eat at home) and we always want to try a few things. I've had some entrees that have been amazing (I remember a salmon entree standing out) whereas others are good but not awesome. Nothing is particularly light but most likely you're here on vacation. I tend to eat here more than once if I'm in town for the weekend. Partly this is because there aren't a lot of dining options in Berkeley Springs and partly because the servers are always nice and the food is consistently good.
    This restaurant should be better than it really is....being on the main drag of Berkeley Springs and having such a strong reputation....but it's not. While the food is ok, the service has always lacked in my opinion. There have been a couple of occasions where my husband and I stood in the front area waiting to be seated for 15 minutes. After the second time of that happening, we will not go to Tari's at all unless we have visitors and that's the only kind of food they want to eat. Otherwise there are other restaurants I would prefer to give my business to...one that appreciates customers. I rated Tari's 3 starts because of their food only.....the service I would give it a 1 star at best. It pains me to write such a negative review but in these tough times a restaurant needs to work to keep their customers...not drive them away as they have done with me.
    Cant beat a place that has "wild women" on sign outside restaurant. Excellent food, great art. First off there is one part of the restaurant that is more of a cafe/bar setting. On the other side of the wall is a classy looking restaurant. My travel buddy and I dined in restaurant. Service is great and we noticed after some time the servers were all women. Coincidence? Or women-operated? I also noticed a lot of female-only diners. It must have been ladies' night or something! E and I split the Spinach, Jalapeno & Fire Roasted Red Bell Pepper Fondue which is actually more like a thick dip. The tortilla chips came out bright orange and reminded me of carrots. It was all good. I wanted to eat the whole thing but tried to save room for the actual meal. E got the Pasta Chesapeake (I stole a bite, yum yum yum! Creamy without feeling thick and heavy.) and I had the Seared Scallops Pesto. I thought the scallops were a tad overcooked and pesto didn't really seem like pesto, but overall, not bad. I left the restaurant waddling, the food was so good I wanted to eat it all. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're staying in Berkeley Springs.
    Attractive ambiance, interesting and varied menu, friendly and efficient service. My smoked mushroom Caesar's salad was light but satisfying, my husband's turkey sandwich (from the specials menu) was delicious, and my daughter's buttermilk chicken fingers (a generous portion from the kids' menu) were fresh and tasty.
    Tari's Cafe offers good food in an Art Gallery setting. The French Onion Soup was delicious with a thick slice of Mozzerella cheese melted on top. The Little Italy panini was warm and spicy. Overall, the food was good but not great; my favorite aspect of Tari's is the atmosphere and art pieces that surround you as you dine.
    Our dinner here was last minute, but the proprietor of our B&B suggested reservations for us. We ate rather early and were seated in a nice table in the front windows. I had the scallop appetizer with my husband. We each scarffed down 2 savory scallops then had the crab bisque. The soup was good and was served in a snarky looking modern bowl that wasn't tiny, but a good portion. I also had the salmon and not only did it look JUST LIKE the photos of it I've seen, but I was pretty good. Nice balance of the pecan crust and perfectly cooked salmon. I also had two 'mason jars' of the apple cider and was so bloated with liquid that I couldn't even think about dessert. That, however, did not stop me from requesting a view of the dessert tray. Mostly big slabs of cakes and choco peanut butter pie..although I think they change their desserts day to day. Restrooms are located in the back and were clean.
    We were driving home to NC and Yelp led us here. A great find for travelers who don't want fast food. I had the Steel City steak salad and it was delicious. Perfectly portioned and the steak was cooked perfectly. Definitely stop by when you're in town.
    This is my second review of the wonderful Tari's. From their wonderful service, lovely wine list to their flexibility with children I just adore this restaurant. The service is well-paced and friendly and while I would consider this is a fine dining restaurant it doesn't seem stuffy or overpriced. I always feel happy here. I highly recommend anything with beef as I had the filet tips which were perfectly prepared and to my liking. Mussels are splendid as well.
    The wife and I took a weekend getaway to Berkeley Springs and had dinner at Tari's Friday night. We were really pleased with both the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. Combined we had salads, steak, crab, and ribs, creme brulee, and a reasonably priced bottle of wine. Everything was very good. I'm not saying that everything was the best I ever had, but I will say that each dish brought nice flavor combinations, solid portion sizes and quality ingredients. If you are in town give this place a shot.
    We loved the chicken taco special for lunch. Very tasty, fresh, crunchy and well-prepared. The salsa was yummy. It's their own concoction and they sell it by the jar. Our server was attentive, warm and friendly. Great experience all around!
    This was a great surprise in quite the sleepy little town. We rented a cabin up here for labor day weekend, and got exactly what we wanted... rest and relaxation... On our first night in town however we asked a local for a good recommended for an 8pm dinner... and he and his wife... after talking it over recommended Tari's. This place is a sight... a groovy art gallery with a 4 star restaurant inside. The service was fantastic, the food was creative (but locally influenced) and cooked quite well... and the Jalapeno fondue was incredible. They also featured quite the spread of brews and wines to choose from, with a great selection of local beers. The prices were a little steep, but I'd say if your doing one night out... this wouldn't be a bad place to go with a group.
    ~~~~TARI TARI DAY ~~~ Apologies to Don McLean's "Starry, Starry Night" and Josh Groban's cover for that matter ~~~~~~~~~ Our delightful waitress told me that Tari's only cooks burgers medium well and well done. I told her that medium well should still be pink in the center. She warned me that it would come out cooked all the way through. I took a chance that I could get a little pink, maybe even red, in my Black & Bleu burger. But she was right. In a rueful mood, I composed lyrics to the tune of "Starry, Starry Night." Tari Tari Day, Broil your burgers until their brown and grey, Look out, well-done is the only way With fries that fill the darkness in my soul Artwork on the walls Sketch pinks and reds that I recall But don't appear on my plate at all, Just colors that match the rocky mountain land. Now I understand what you tried to say to me Medium-well will come out well-done you see It's the color of a manatee, The cook would not listen, or he did not know how. I doubt he'll listen now.

    Great restaurant. Friendly upbeat staff, and terrific food. Our party had the salmon special as well as a standard menu item - beef tips with mushrooms onions and smoked blue cheese. The salmon was very very good but the beef dish was incredible. Pleasant atmosphere and pricing seemed commensurate with the quality and freshness of the food. Leave room for the bread which was terrific as well

    Three of us had a wonderful lunch at Tari's Cafe last week. A unique and varied menu was supported by good service to make ours a very nice dining experience. The art and decorations throughout this restaurant add to its ambiance. We all recommend Tari's for lunch if you are in the area.

    I lived and worked in Berkeley Springs for a while, and one of the many elements that I miss is Tari's and the people that work there. It is such a welcoming place. From the local artwork that decorates the walls, to a local wailing on the microphone during Jam Night on Thursdays. The food is fresh and wonderful as well. They are always mixing up something new in the kitchen while continuing to cook perfection in the favorites already on the menu. Locale flair is the best garnish! Go and tell Tari, Mikey, Veronica and the bunch hello. While you're there...order a Pasta Chesapeake for me please!

    We arrived without a reservation in a group of 13. The staff seated us immediately and were very friendly and attentive. The menu features pasta dishes and a wide variety of seafood. The Moody Blues pasta was tasty and unique. The mussels appetizer was excellent. I must disagree with the other reviewers on the crab cakes, I would call them good, but made with way too much bread crumbs for my liking. Overall this was a great dining experience with friendly attentive staff, and would recommend to all.

    My wife and I stopped by while on vacation and walked up to the bar and sat down. There were about 2 other couples sitting in the bar side so they were by no means busy. After about 15 minutes of being ignored we walked out. The bartender and 2 other staff members gave us the side eye but didn't offer a "hello" or any kind of acknowledgment at all. Maybe because we are in our 30's and looked too young to be bothered with or because I wasn't wearing a polo shirt tucked into khaki shorts with a belt we looked too poor to be served is no excuse for deplorable service.

    We stayed in Berkeley Springs this past weekend and heard a lot of great things about Tari's. And they were all true! We had lunch in the bar area and the decorating really gives you a lot to look at. The service was quick and friendly and the menu - wow! Tons of unique items, as well as the standards. Get the Cream of Crab soup. Trust me. I know crabs, and this soup is incredible.

    The crab cake and pulled pork sandwiches from the lunch menu were fantastic; however, my wife did not care for the French onion soup or the vegetable panini. The soup was way too salty and the Panini was dressed with a heavy drizzle of balsamic reduction on the outside of the bread which made for a sticky, messy experience. Being a woman who appreciates feedback, she mentioned to the waitress that the panini was delicious but the balsamic reduction would be better in the inside (and maybe something about a gooey mess). The waitress acknowledged the feedback with two wet naps. We needed a third!

    Their food is a cut above average, but it's the kind of place where you think you're having a good meal then find a hair in your food. Their french onion soup is to die for, but most other meals we've had have been just okay. Portions are a little skimpy for the price. Props for offering chips and salsa as a side dish. Great local art to look at (and perhaps buy) while you eat. All in all, a decent place but nothing to write home about.

    Country roads Bring me home To the land I belong... West Virginia Mountain Mamma Take me home, country roads... The song is playing in Tari's during dinner; twilight outside and warmth inside. The food is wonderfully, country fresh: I had the French onion soup and the apples, roquefort & roasted walnut salad with raspberry vinaigrette. It's crunchy, sweet, salty - delicious! Tari's is a laid-back country restaurant with hand-made crafts, jewelry and art for sale or just to enjoy; the cafe is on the main street of the town and around the corner from the bathhouse, Berkeley Springs. I like the way the bread comes out on a cutting board, and someone at the table is the designated bread & butter server. Great comfort food and service.

    I have to agree with the other post. The crab cakes are the best you'll find outside the DC/Metro area. Nice selection of beer. Tari's is split into two parts, the bar and the dinning room. The bar area is very rustic, the dinning room is a little more up scale but still manages to mantain the rustic feel of the bar. Lot's of local art on the walls. Tari's is just a very cool place for a cold beer or very nice dinner.

    i've been meaning to write about how we were treated here for quite a while-better late than never so here we go... my husband and i visit his father who lives in this area at least once a year, and as much as i (really do) love my in-laws, we need to get out and have a drink. after reading the GLOWING reviews on this place, i'm still kind of shocked by our own experience. we sat down at the bar, and the bartender glanced at us, glowered, and promptly pretended we didn't exist. there weren't very many people in the place at all, so i cannot justify being so obviously ignored for as long as we were. i hate leaving bad reviews, however the treatment we got warrants the one star. a couple other staff members flicked their eyes at us and chose to ignore us as well. we were shocked, and as a youngish well-dressed-albiet-funky couple we didn't 'fit in' with the older (but loudly drunk on wine) crowd. i checked business hours, so i know it wasn't because we were walking in right at closing time. i felt like we were judged by our (tattooed) skin. eff this place.

    We've gone to Tari's & stayed at the rooms for several years. now, & we're still happy with the price of the rooms & our dinners. I was very happy to see that they could make some adjustments to my dietary needs. We've seen a slow evolution in the menu though. It looks like it's become simpler, although this could be a transition to a different culinary style. The "grown up grilled cheese" panini was a bit unbalanced. We didn't see any of the problems with service which other diners have experienced.

    Our family had a lovely dinner here after a bike trip on the trail. Hopefully they got the message from earlier posts re the service because ours was quite good. Lowpoint of food was bread and salad --- weird bread and not great salad dressing (too much rosemary?) which seems silly. But mahi, lamb, earth & water (steak and crab imperial) were all very tasty with good portions and nice sides. It's not inexpensive, but at least it's a full meal by the time you are done. We were too full for dessert ---next time!

    Nice country style cafe with a lot of glass and other arts. We had the onion soup (good, but way too salty), seafood special (crab legs were spoiled), chicken chasseur (ckicken ok, but sauce was awful). Friends said this was not a good night for Tari's.

    I went here randomly with my parents on a drive back from PA. What a little gem of a place! Looking at it from the outside, you would never think that just inside the door is a haven for artists and great food and wine. I had the salmon and I ate everything on my plate. Very friendly place, and atmosphere. I really wanted to buy some of the pottery and local art, but didn't have much time to browse. I can't wait to go back.

    I recently went to Tari's (first time) while staying at the Inn for the weekend. My friends and I had heard so many recommendations for Tari's that we were expecting either a great culinary experience and/or a place with great character. The food was very average and in our opinion, overpriced for what it was. The ambiance was also very average. The thing that stands out the most is that it was very cold in the restaurant. It is an okay place, but the Inn at Berkeley Springs actually has a much better restaurant for about the same prices.

    Love this place, the crab bisque...100% the falafel sandwich was great .

I did leave her around 15% - more than she deserved. .

    We eat there every time we are in the area, three or four times a year. Love the food and the service has always been good except for one time. A comfortable place and food expertly prepared. Been there a number of times since the original post and it was great every time.

    Really nice lunch/dinner spot in Berkeley Springs - with creative choices, nice ambience and good service. though there are clearly quite a few tourists there, I thought the prices reasonable. I would definitely return if in the area.

    ~~~~TARI TARI DAY ~~~ Apologies to Don McLean's "Starry, Starry Night" and Josh Groban's cover for that matter ~~~~~~~~~ Our delightful waitress told me that Tari's only cooks burgers medium well and well done. I told her that medium well should still be pink in the center. She warned me that it would come out cooked all the way through. I took a chance that I could get a little pink, maybe even red, in my Black & Bleu burger. But she was right. In a rueful mood, I composed lyrics to the tune of "Starry, Starry Night." Tari Tari Day, Broil your burgers until their brown and grey, Look out, well-done is the only way With fries that fill the darkness in my soul Artwork on the walls Sketch pinks and reds that I recall But don't appear on my plate at all, Just colors that match the rocky mountain land. Now I understand what you tried to say to me Medium-well will come out well-done you see It's the color of a manatee, The cook would not listen, or he did not know how. I doubt he'll listen now.
    Great restaurant. Friendly upbeat staff, and terrific food. Our party had the salmon special as well as a standard menu item - beef tips with mushrooms onions and smoked blue cheese. The salmon was very very good but the beef dish was incredible. Pleasant atmosphere and pricing seemed commensurate with the quality and freshness of the food. Leave room for the bread which was terrific as well
    Three of us had a wonderful lunch at Tari's Cafe last week. A unique and varied menu was supported by good service to make ours a very nice dining experience. The art and decorations throughout this restaurant add to its ambiance. We all recommend Tari's for lunch if you are in the area.
    I lived and worked in Berkeley Springs for a while, and one of the many elements that I miss is Tari's and the people that work there. It is such a welcoming place. From the local artwork that decorates the walls, to a local wailing on the microphone during Jam Night on Thursdays. The food is fresh and wonderful as well. They are always mixing up something new in the kitchen while continuing to cook perfection in the favorites already on the menu. Locale flair is the best garnish! Go and tell Tari, Mikey, Veronica and the bunch hello. While you're there...order a Pasta Chesapeake for me please!
    We arrived without a reservation in a group of 13. The staff seated us immediately and were very friendly and attentive. The menu features pasta dishes and a wide variety of seafood. The Moody Blues pasta was tasty and unique. The mussels appetizer was excellent. I must disagree with the other reviewers on the crab cakes, I would call them good, but made with way too much bread crumbs for my liking. Overall this was a great dining experience with friendly attentive staff, and would recommend to all.
    My wife and I stopped by while on vacation and walked up to the bar and sat down. There were about 2 other couples sitting in the bar side so they were by no means busy. After about 15 minutes of being ignored we walked out. The bartender and 2 other staff members gave us the side eye but didn't offer a "hello" or any kind of acknowledgment at all. Maybe because we are in our 30's and looked too young to be bothered with or because I wasn't wearing a polo shirt tucked into khaki shorts with a belt we looked too poor to be served is no excuse for deplorable service.
    We stayed in Berkeley Springs this past weekend and heard a lot of great things about Tari's. And they were all true! We had lunch in the bar area and the decorating really gives you a lot to look at. The service was quick and friendly and the menu - wow! Tons of unique items, as well as the standards. Get the Cream of Crab soup. Trust me. I know crabs, and this soup is incredible.
    The crab cake and pulled pork sandwiches from the lunch menu were fantastic; however, my wife did not care for the French onion soup or the vegetable panini. The soup was way too salty and the Panini was dressed with a heavy drizzle of balsamic reduction on the outside of the bread which made for a sticky, messy experience. Being a woman who appreciates feedback, she mentioned to the waitress that the panini was delicious but the balsamic reduction would be better in the inside (and maybe something about a gooey mess). The waitress acknowledged the feedback with two wet naps. We needed a third!
    Their food is a cut above average, but it's the kind of place where you think you're having a good meal then find a hair in your food. Their french onion soup is to die for, but most other meals we've had have been just okay. Portions are a little skimpy for the price. Props for offering chips and salsa as a side dish. Great local art to look at (and perhaps buy) while you eat. All in all, a decent place but nothing to write home about.
    Country roads Bring me home To the land I belong... West Virginia Mountain Mamma Take me home, country roads... The song is playing in Tari's during dinner; twilight outside and warmth inside. The food is wonderfully, country fresh: I had the French onion soup and the apples, roquefort & roasted walnut salad with raspberry vinaigrette. It's crunchy, sweet, salty - delicious! Tari's is a laid-back country restaurant with hand-made crafts, jewelry and art for sale or just to enjoy; the cafe is on the main street of the town and around the corner from the bathhouse, Berkeley Springs. I like the way the bread comes out on a cutting board, and someone at the table is the designated bread & butter server. Great comfort food and service.
    I have to agree with the other post. The crab cakes are the best you'll find outside the DC/Metro area. Nice selection of beer. Tari's is split into two parts, the bar and the dinning room. The bar area is very rustic, the dinning room is a little more up scale but still manages to mantain the rustic feel of the bar. Lot's of local art on the walls. Tari's is just a very cool place for a cold beer or very nice dinner.
    i've been meaning to write about how we were treated here for quite a while-better late than never so here we go... my husband and i visit his father who lives in this area at least once a year, and as much as i (really do) love my in-laws, we need to get out and have a drink. after reading the GLOWING reviews on this place, i'm still kind of shocked by our own experience. we sat down at the bar, and the bartender glanced at us, glowered, and promptly pretended we didn't exist. there weren't very many people in the place at all, so i cannot justify being so obviously ignored for as long as we were. i hate leaving bad reviews, however the treatment we got warrants the one star. a couple other staff members flicked their eyes at us and chose to ignore us as well. we were shocked, and as a youngish well-dressed-albiet-funky couple we didn't 'fit in' with the older (but loudly drunk on wine) crowd. i checked business hours, so i know it wasn't because we were walking in right at closing time. i felt like we were judged by our (tattooed) skin. eff this place.
    We've gone to Tari's & stayed at the rooms for several years. now, & we're still happy with the price of the rooms & our dinners. I was very happy to see that they could make some adjustments to my dietary needs. We've seen a slow evolution in the menu though. It looks like it's become simpler, although this could be a transition to a different culinary style. The "grown up grilled cheese" panini was a bit unbalanced. We didn't see any of the problems with service which other diners have experienced.
    Our family had a lovely dinner here after a bike trip on the trail. Hopefully they got the message from earlier posts re the service because ours was quite good. Lowpoint of food was bread and salad --- weird bread and not great salad dressing (too much rosemary?) which seems silly. But mahi, lamb, earth & water (steak and crab imperial) were all very tasty with good portions and nice sides. It's not inexpensive, but at least it's a full meal by the time you are done. We were too full for dessert ---next time!
    Nice country style cafe with a lot of glass and other arts. We had the onion soup (good, but way too salty), seafood special (crab legs were spoiled), chicken chasseur (ckicken ok, but sauce was awful). Friends said this was not a good night for Tari's.
    I went here randomly with my parents on a drive back from PA. What a little gem of a place! Looking at it from the outside, you would never think that just inside the door is a haven for artists and great food and wine. I had the salmon and I ate everything on my plate. Very friendly place, and atmosphere. I really wanted to buy some of the pottery and local art, but didn't have much time to browse. I can't wait to go back.
    I recently went to Tari's (first time) while staying at the Inn for the weekend. My friends and I had heard so many recommendations for Tari's that we were expecting either a great culinary experience and/or a place with great character. The food was very average and in our opinion, overpriced for what it was. The ambiance was also very average. The thing that stands out the most is that it was very cold in the restaurant. It is an okay place, but the Inn at Berkeley Springs actually has a much better restaurant for about the same prices.
